KNIGHT, Laura

Study of a Sleeping Dog

£2,750

Undated.

Black chalk on paper. 115mmx245mm. Dark grey/green mount and gold wooden frame.

This charming study by Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) was previously in the collection of Bobby and Virginia Chapman at Debden Manor. Knight was perhaps the leading British female artist of the twentieth century. She was also the first female to be elected to membership of the Royal Academy (in 1936) following the death of Mary Moser in 1819.
