Quarter bound in publisher’s original striped yellow and blue cloth on a pale grey ground. Title, author and publisher’s mark lettered in gold on spine. Original dust jacket in protective mylar covering. Very slight fading to head of spine. Dust jacket has a repaired tear on front towards foot and one small chip (0.5cm) on head of back cover. In excellent condition internally; altogether in excellent condition.

New York Random House in association with the Whitney Museum of American Art 1979First edition. Presentation copy with inscription to Ray Connolly. 228x215mm. pp.141 (iiibl). Original pictorial wrappers. Corners slightly bumped but an excellent copy. Andy Warhol’s inscription on half-title and signature on top right margin of p.121. Inscriptions read “To Ray love Andy” and “Andy”. Prolific British writer Ray Connolly (b.1940) is notable for co-authoring music films ‘That’ll be the Day’ and ‘Stardust’. During the 1960s he wrote extensively on the British music scene.

London: Simon and Schuster, 1859  New and Complete edition. Large 8vo. 225x145mm. pp. x, 827, [1bl]. Very handsomely bound in green half calf, cloth covered boards. Spine with four raised bands, second compartment with a maroon label lettered in gilt. the other four compartments are lavishly decorated in gilt on tan, cream, green and maroon calf onlays. Head and foot of spine decorated in gilt. Marbled endpapers. All edges stained red. Front pastedown has ticket of T.M. Hepworth, Printer, Stationer and Bookseller, Church.

London: W. Foulsham. c1940. 8vo. 185x120mm. pp. 224. Original red cloth with a black checkerboard design. Original illustrated dustjacket. Some rubbing to edges and some creases and closed tears to the dustjacket but overall a very nice copy of this wartime edition of perhaps the most popular literary novel in the English language. Published as part of the Foulsham's Boy and Girl Fiction Library.[ref.

London: John Lehmann.. 1948. The warm south First edition, first printing with the green panel on the spine. 233x165mm. pp. xiv, 15-189 [1bl]. Yellow buckram, spine with dark green panel lettered in gilt. Corners are rubbed with a slight bump to the head of front board. Some minor soiling across both boards. Original dust jacket illustrated by John Minton who did the extensive illustrations throughout the book. Some repairs and some creasing to the edges of the jacket and corners rubbed. Internally very good with only slight foxing to edges.

London: Ward & Downey. 1887. First edition. 250x140mm. pp. [7],387,[3]. Publisher's original blue cloth with black illustration and chain-link border design, lettered in gold on front board and spine. Rubbed and bumped at corners and spine. One or two spots of soiling on back board. Internally lightly foxed over first 6 pages but otherwise very good. Overall a very nice copy of an important historical and sociological text.

London: John Hogg. 1901. First edition. 190x125mm. pp. [18],354,[4]. Publisher's original green paper covered boards with green cloth spine. Lettered in black on front board and spine. Bumped and rubbed at corners with slight tearing to top corner of front board. One or two areas of staining towards the foot of front board. Spine is rubbed at head and foot and very slightly stained. Internally very good. Written by master binder Douglas Cockerell and illustrated by Noel Rooke, this remains a foundational work for traditional bookbinders.

London: Granada Publishing. 1980. Signed by Sammy Davis Junior. First UK edition. pp. 215 [1bl]. Publisher's black cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine. Original illustrated dustjacket protected by a plastic wrapper. Some light shelfwear and wear to head and foot of spine of jacket but otherwise in very good condition. Verso of half title is inscribed "All my best. Sammy Davis Junior. P.S. SO. DO.

London Reynolds & Sons. 1835. Box: 560x111x45mm. Playing cards: 93x64mm. Black box with marbled edges and embossed leather ties containing a set of embossed playing cards. 52 cards, no Jokers. Single-ended, square corners, with lightly impressed pattern on obverse. Foxing to cards, box in excellent condition (thought to be modern, not contemporary to the cards). The One of Clubs depicts Reynolds & Sons crest with the words 'Duty One Shilling' above the coronet.  A very rare deck of playing cards created for blind people, thought to be the earliest example of such a deck.

Near fine save for some rubbing at head and foot of spine. Original illustrated dust jacket near fine with just some minor creasing at head of cover. Internally fine. Inscribed by the author on half title page "For Mr. Brian Harrison with best regards from the author W R Hess, May 1986"Written by his son, this biography of Rudolph Hess recounts his infamous solo flight to Scotland on a dubiously conceived peace mission.

London: Weidenfeld & Nicolson. 1959. A Chilling Account First edition in English. 225x145mm. pp.[16], 252,[2]. Publisher's original black cloth. Lettered in silver on the spine. Slightly bumped at head of spine but otherwise near fine. Original illustrated dust jacket is near fine with just some very small creasing at head of spine. Internally fine. This chilling first-hand account chronicles the bureaucracy and day-to-day operations of the largest Nazi concentration camp. Written by Hoess whilst awaiting execution, the book offers a disturbing report into the logistics of mass murder. [ref.

London Thames & Hudson. 2003. The Female Gaze First edition. 290x225mm. pp. [6] 256 [2]. Publisher's original grey cloth.Author and title in silver gilt lettering on spine. A fine copy.Germaine Greer's controversial 2003 book examines the representation of male youthfulness and by centring the female gaze sought "to advance women's reclamation of their capacity for and right to visual pleasure." Containing some 200 photographs and pictures of boys from classical mythology to Kurt Cobain, Greer views the aesthetics of youthful masculinity through a radically feminist lens.[ref.

Title in a border lettered in black at top right of the front board. Very good condition save for a slight stain along the foot of boards and spine. Original illustrated dust jacket is in excellent condition save for very slight chipping to edge of front cover and slight bumping at the corners of head. Reverse of dust jacket shows patches of foxing. Internally very good.

Slightly shelf worn at extremities and slightly rubbed at head of spine. Original illustrated dust jacket is in very good condition. A small chip at head of front cover towards spine and very minor rubbing at head of spine. Inscribed in blue pen by a previous owner on free end paper "From Val and Mary – with best wishes for a merry Christmas. Dec 1958". Internally fine.

Front and back boards have bumping to extremities and head and foot of spine show a degree of rubbing. Original dust jacket has signs of shelf wear at the top edge of front cover and foot of spine. Back cover has a small, closed tear at joint with head of spine. Book plate displaying inscription of Lauren Bacall's signature on front loose leaf. Internally near fine. An entertaining and wittily written book by one of the twentieth century's most glamorous stars.[ref.

New York: Rizzoli. 2011. A celebration of the male form First US edition. 348x260mm. Unpaginated. [pp 252]. Numerous full-page photographs throughout. Illustrated cover featuring a photograph of a posed male nude in black and white on the front and a different angle of the same model on the back. Near fine save for a scratch on back cover towards the top edge. Internally fine. Mariano Vivanco's intimate and sensual photographs of the male form are elegantly presented in this coffee table style book.

London: Cassell. 1960. A pioneering book on a difficult subject First edition. 205mmx145mm. pp. [8],207,[3]. Publisher's original red cloth. Spine lettered in gilt. Slightly bumped at head of spine and slightly rubbed at foot but otherwise near fine. Original illustrated dust jacket has very mild creasing on head of front cover and some light chipping on head and foot of spine. Moderately foxed on back cover. Internally there is some foxing on front free end paper and toning to page edges but otherwise very good.  This pioneering 1960 book by Dr.

Publisher's grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Original illustrated dustjacket. Slight bumping to bottom corners of boards. Lower cover of dustjacket has a repaired tear to and some foxing to photograph of Zamyatin but overall a very good copy and internally excellent. One of the great dystopian novels. Banned in Russia, it was first published in New York in an English translation.

New York: Ben Abramson. 1946. An irregular quarterly of Sherlockiana 2 volumes, 4 issues in each. 230x150mm. pp. [vol. 1] 516. [vol. 2] 507 [1]. Vol. 1, No.1 has some blue staining on front of paper wrap and Vol. 1, No.4 has a slight dent to front of paper wrap but otherwise each individual issue is in excellent condition. Internally each issue is fine. A very nice, well looked-after set. The Baker Street Journal is the leading publication for essays and stories about Sherlock Holmes.

New York: The Viking Press. 1965. First edition. 280x203mm. pp. 256. Publisher's original pale grey cloth, title stamped in gilt on spine and front board. Original photographic dust jacket has a 5mm chip and a closed tear at head of cover. Some chipping to head of spine. 35mm closed tear of back cover but overall in very good condition. Internally fine. This is an excellent copy of Peter Beard's first book which established him as a leading wildlife photographer and campaigner.

London Methuen & Co. Ltd. 1930. Exceptionally bound edition of a scarce Norfolk guide Fourth edition, revised. 225x165mm. pp. [1bl] x, 408 [8bl]. 46 colour plates, 23 in monotone by SOUTHGATE, Frank, R.B.A. Calf leather intricately tooled in black, with gilt lettering to front cover and spine. Six compartments and five raised bands on spine. Title in second, author's name in third and illustrator's name in fifth compartments. Binding by Syd. A. Howe, Guildford. Marbled fixed and free front and back endpapers. Foxing to all edges and internally.  A beautiful, privately bound edition of a classic Norfolk text.

A TragicomedyNew York: Poseidon Press. 1990. Flexing tragicomedy muscle First edition. 220x145mm. pp. 240. Quarter bound in publisher's black cloth with cream boards front and back and cream lettering to spine. Original dust jacket. One bump to foot of dust jacket spine. Two creases to front flap. Internally excellent; overall in very good condition.  Set in the obsessive, extreme world of U.S. bodybuilding, Crew's characters play out the minor tragedies and dramas of everyday life in his characteristic Southern Gothic style.[ref.

London: Penguin Books.. 1972. "too didactic to be artistic" Presentation copy with illustration of a clockwork orange on title page. 180x112mm. pp. 143 [1]. This is a reprint from the same year as the first Penguin paperback edition of A Clockwork Orange. In the highly distinctive David Pelham designed wrappers. Some rubbing to wrappers and soiling and toning to edges. Hinges delicate and slightly creased. Inscription in blue ink reads "(the last chapter is missing) To Kristian with kindest regards Anthony Burgess London 8.2.90", with Burgess's line drawing of a clockwork orange. A unique copy of a controversial novel.

New York:. 1938. Promotional prospectus for the Fashion Academy at 16 East 52nd Street, New York. 198x130mm. pp. 44. Illustrated throughout with colour fashion plates and one pochoir pastedown image. Decorated covers with an embossed gilded label pasted on upper cover. Illustrated endpapers with gold fashion silhouettes. The fashion plates are mostly of historic designs. Some rubbing and wear and internally there is some marking and slight staining but overall a nice copy. The Fashion Academy was operated under the direction of Emil Avil Hartman and ran a series of courses on fashion and costume design.
