Spine with five raised bands, second and fourth compartments lettered in gilt and the top compartment decorated in gilt with an extraordinary snake, skull and star design. Top edge gilt. Some light shelfwear but otherwise in very good condition throughout. Front pastedown has the bookplate of Gilbert Compton Elliot. Lara is generally thought of as a sequel to The Corsair.
