The Book of Talismans, Amulets and Zodiacal Gems.

London: William Rider. 1914.

If these stones could speak

First edition. 8vo. 217x135mm. pp. xix, [ibl], 292. Coloured frontispiece and ten black and white plates. Original blue cloth, illustrated and lettered in gilt. Some rubbing to extremities, slight fading to spine and a mark on the lower cover. Internally very good.
A nice copy of this extensive and important study of the symbolism of precious stones. It examines the Hindu, Jewish, Chinese, Egyptian, Roman, Gnostic, and Christian lore of gems. The final section discusses the astrological connections of key gems, sign by sign.
