Card cover illustrated with a black and white photograph of teenage lust. The cover and contents are in near fine condition. A superb copy of this controversial, explicit and dark collection of images and words. It formed the inspiration for Clark's radical film "Kids".

London: C. Lane. 1851.A 19th century virtual reality experience of the Great Exhibition.Accordion-style paper peepshow of the Great Exhibition in 1851. 160 x 175 mm extending to c650mm. Ten hand-coloured lithographic cardboard panels, eight with die-cut openings and the other two providing the front and back covers. The front panel has a viewing lens. Housed in the original slipcase which is stained and slightly torn in places and there is some soiling to the front and back panels but otherwise in very good condition with the internal prints particularly clean.

Santa Rosa, California Black Sparrow Press. 1994.Limited edition, one of 750 paperback copies published for friends of Black Sparrow Press. 210x146mm. pp. 40. Original decorative wrappers, stapled. Very slight marking to lower cover but otherwise a near fine copy. Lawrence produced this work for the Daily Chronicle while waiting for Lady Chatterley's Lover to start selling. At a time when a bill giving women the vote was passing through Parliament, the British newspapers were very keen on this type of material. It was discovered by Roy Spencer in the files of the Daily Chronicle.

London: Printed for J. Scatcherd. 1797.First edition. 8vo. 175x100mm. pp. xvi, 274. Folding frontispiece and twelve plates each with a monthly "Bill of Fare". Contemporary calf, recently and expertly repaired, red morocco label to spine lettered in gilt. Closed tear to E6 with no loss, some foxing but otherwise very good. An excellent copy of a rare book, ESTC recording only six copies. The Accomplished Housekeeper is an abridged version of Francis Collingwood's The Universal Cook and City and Country Housekeeper, itself a rare book, first published in 1792 with a second edition in 1797.

n.p. . n.d. [c1970].Two volumes. 254x202mm. pp. 7 [1bl], 42. 6 illustrations; 47 [1bl], 9 illustrations. Typed pages stapled at left edge with green card covers on the first volume and orange on the second. Some marks and toning on the covers and four of the leaves have been repaired with coloured tape at the edges. An utterly bizarre (and unrecorded) home-made production of which we have been unable to find another copy. At first sight, on encountering the photocopied illustrations, this would appear to be a fantasy work for rubber fetishists.

New York: Ben Abramson. 1946. An irregular quarterly of Sherlockiana 2 volumes, 4 issues in each. 230x150mm. pp. [vol. 1] 516. [vol. 2] 507 [1]. Vol. 1, No.1 has some blue staining on front of paper wrap and Vol. 1, No.4 has a slight dent to front of paper wrap but otherwise each individual issue is in excellent condition. Internally each issue is fine. A very nice, well looked-after set. The Baker Street Journal is the leading publication for essays and stories about Sherlock Holmes.

Edinburgh and London: William Blackwood and Sons. 1871.First separate edition following its publication in Blackwood's Magazine. 8vo. 171x114mm. pp. 64, 8pp adverts. Original publisher's purple wrappers, somewhat faded and with tears to spine and the bottom outer corner torn from the lower cover. Some foxing but otherwise very good internally. Although not the first example of imaginary invasion literature (see previous item for that), The Battle of Dorking is the best known and was the most successful.

The maps that form the endpapers are bound in at the end of volumes two and three. Bound by Bayntun in red half morocco, cloth covered boards. Each volume housed in its own red cloth covered slipcase. In excellent condition throughout.

London: H.F. & G. Witherby. [1953].First edition. Two volumes. Signed by the author to the half title of volume II. Demy 4to. (285x220mm). pp.xvi, 510; vii, 314, [2]. Volume I in navy buckram, volume II in navy cloth lettered in gilt to the spine. Cream dust jacket lettered and decorated in black and red, price clipped. Plastic protective wrapper. Binding and jackets are in very good condition with only the slightest shelfwear. Internally both volumes are in excellent condition.

Frontispiece and nine plates printed on blue and pink paper. Original black buckram, repair to head and foot of spine. Boards and spine rubbed and scuffed and with some marking and a scratch on the lower cover. Internally a little toned at the edges, and there is some slight creasing and chipping to edges of front free endpaper but overall in very good condition. Front paste down has the bookplate of A.R.

Bound by "Watson, Binder, Marylebone" (signed at foot of front pastedown) in beige cloth decorated with inlaid silver quatrefoil and flower motifs. Calf turn-ins tooled in gilt. Silk endpapers. Gauffred edges. Two silver pillar and heart-shaped silver clasps, one engraved with the letters "I.J" and the other with the date "1760". Both have the silver mark "IL".

Contemporary purple full calf, spine decorated in gilt and blind. Maroon morocco label to spine, lettered in gilt. Some rubbing and scuffing and corners bumped and worn. Internally very good. Front pastedown has the bookplate of the SPCK. A nice copy of a rare book, Worldcat locating only two copies (BL and Yale).Mara'thi' is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in India and is the official language of the state of Maharashtra.

Internally very good with only the occasional spotting and toning. A nice copy of Spare's extraordinary work of art, magic, the occult, sexuality, religion and the use of sigils.

Original blue cloth, illustrated and lettered in gilt. Some rubbing to extremities, slight fading to spine and a mark on the lower cover. Internally very good. A nice copy of this extensive and important study of the symbolism of precious stones. It examines the Hindu, Jewish, Chinese, Egyptian, Roman, Gnostic, and Christian lore of gems. The final section discusses the astrological connections of key gems, sign by sign. Ref.

Contains the scarce Postscript which was missing from three of the six copies appearing in the auction records since 1975. Contemporary brick red morocco with double fillet border and gilt panel of double fillet and roll-tool decoration with inner and outer corner pieces to upper and lower covers.

A fine copy.Germaine Greer's controversial 2003 book examines the representation of male youthfulness and by centring the female gaze sought "to advance women's reclamation of their capacity for and right to visual pleasure." Containing some 200 photographs and pictures of boys from classical mythology to Kurt Cobain, Greer views the aesthetics of youthful masculinity through a radically feminist lens.[ref.

The Call is regarded as on of the most important suffrage and feminist novels.

Tears to spine and slight loss to label. Corners and edges a little worn and some marks and fading to boards. Pages uncut. Some toning to edges but otherwise internally in very good condition.

London: C and J Ollier. 1821.Second edition. pp. xvii (but xv), 104. Lacking half title. The original book has been disbound and the pages cut, very neatly and expertly and then carefully pasted at the hinge edge on a leaf of plain white paper so that the leaves of text are interleaved with the plain leaves. This is one way in which prompt books were made, allowing for notes and directions to be written on the plain leaves without disturbing the text. The leaves of text are cut to measure 151x95mm and the plain paper is 235x190mm.
