Original wrappers, torn at spine and detached. Inscribed on half title "Veronica Gilliat. December 1916". Housed in a custom made drop-backed box. All have been folded and there is some soiling and the occasional tear but the text is not affected. The letters and poems are as follows: 1.

Tan half calf, marbled paper covered boards. Spine with green morocco label, lettered in gilt. Some repairs and strengthening to joints, head and foot of spines and corners. Slight scuffing to spines and rubbing to boards.

Upper and lower covers with roll-tooled border in gilt and panels and lozenges in gilt to centre. Spine with five raised bands, compartments decorated with a geometric design and Tudor roses, second compartment lettered in gilt. Gilt turn ins, all edges gilt. Front pastedown has the burgundy morocco bookplate of W.A.Foyle of Beeleigh Abbey.

Although the pagination jumps from 198-203, this is a printer's error as the book collates complete and the catchwords are correct. Additional leaves Hh2 and Uu2 have also been bound in alongside the correct ones. Five engraved plates, of which four are folding. Contemporary reverse sheep with borders ruled in blind. Five raised bands, black morocco label in second compartment. Wear to spine and corners with some loss to spine. Repair to head and foot of spine.

London: Printed for J Jenkins by L Harrison. n.d. [1827?]First edition. 387x290mm. viii, [2bl]. Unpaginated, signatures erratic as usual. Dedication to the Earl of St Vincent. Fifty-five hand coloured aquatint plates and one uncoloured plate containing two etchings showing battle plans for the Bombardment of Algiers an the Battle of Trafalgar. The original paintings were done by Thomas Whitcombe (c1760-1824) who was one of the finest marine painters of the time. The hand-coloured plates were done by Sutherland, Bailey and Jeakes and are of the highest quality and are in superb condition in this copy.

Original pale green pictorial dustjacket, slight chipping to extremities, but overall in very good condition, protected by a plastic wrapper. Internally near fine with only very slight foxing to some of the early leaves. A very nice copy of this collection of essays by Huxley which includes work on D.H.

Grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Original dustjacket illustrated by Edward Bawden. Bumping to head and foot of spine. Repair to top and bottom edges of dustjacket and two closed tears to top edge and slight chipping to bottom edge of rear of dustjacket but otherwise in very good condition and internally excellent. It is not common in a good jacket. Camus's concise, dense, absurdist novel of alienation first appeared in 1942.

Some modest bumping to the corners and rubbing to edges. Original illustrated dust jacket with some chipping to the top of the backstrip and a repaired tear to the foot of the front cover on the hinge with the flap. Illustrated throughout. No text. Banned in the U.S. when it was released. Over 150 colour and black and white photographs including Clark's use of collage and images taken from television screens.

(198x75mm). pp. xxv, [1], 170, [2], iv, 46, 46a-h, 47-74. Twentieth-century quarter brown morocco with small arts and crafts style decorative motifs on the joints, brown cloth covered boards. Slight rubbing to the joints and mild bumping to the corners. Overall in very good condition. Internally very good, some browning to edges of title page and final leaf. Gathering Gg has been repaired affecting the text but not legibility.

Engraved vignettes to title pages of each volume and title pages of individual plays. A Fine set in a contemporary quarter deep red morocco over marbled boards. The tips more graceful than usual with gilt rules to the borders.

Red label lettered in gilt. All edges marbled and marbled endpapers. Some slight rubbing to edges and a little scuffing in places to the boards but overall an attractive set in very good condition. Internally very good with a little browning in places. Engraved frontispiece portrait of Shakespeare. Engravings throughout reproducing scenes from the plays.

Wright (signed to foot of front pastedown) in blue morocco with triple fillet borders inside which are gilt swags. Spine with five raised bands, compartments lavishly decorated in gilt, second and third compartments lettered in gilt. Edges of boards with gilt roll and turn-ins decorated in gilt. All edges gilt.

Small 8vo. 150x100mm. pp. 52. Poetry of Childhood. Pp. 28. Bound in at the end are four pages of publisher's advertisements which were issued with The Poetry of Home. There are three charming pencil drawings pasted onto blank leaves bound in between the text and two further drawings on blank leaves and one on a text leaf. On a blank preliminary leaf, a photograph of Barmby has been pasted in.

Norwich: Printed and sold by Stevenson, Matchett and Stevenson. 1808.First edition. 8vo. 222x140mm. pp. [12], 117, [1bl], [7, 1bl], 4pp advertisements of books on farming tipped in. Original blue-grey boards, backed with white paper, original orange label to spine. Spine cracked and worn with loss of c45mm to lower part of spine and loss to label. Corners bumped and some soiling to the boards. Internally very good but with some foxing. Overall an excellent uncut copy in the original boards. A rare book, Worldcat locates eight copies worldwide and only one appears in the auction records.

Contemporary black morocco, covers panelled in gilt, spine richly gilt in compartments, marbled pastedowns, all edges gilt. The Heber (?) - Britwell - Hayward - Bradley Martin - Edwards copy, with modern bookplates of H. Bradley Martin and J.O. Edwards. Lightly rubbed with some wear to corners, a little marginal browning, still a fine copy.

Los Angeles: Feral House.. 1989.Inscribed "For Sherry, a potent witch in her own right! Rege Satanas! Anton Szandor La Vey". The "Y" at the end of Sherry and Vey have forked devil tails. 208x130mm. pp. [20], 274, [8]. Orange wrappers, some shelfwear and creasing to corners but overall a very good copy and internally excellent. Books signed by LaVey (and particularly with such fulsome inscriptions) are rare.The Satanic Witch is a provocative and influential work first published in 1971.

With twenty four folding engraved plates, errata leaf at the end of each part. The second part has a separate half-title.

n.p. . [1847].One of six manuscript copies transcribed by Charles Pollington. A presentation inscription on one of the preliminary leaves states: "This sixth Copy of Clare's Poems is presented to my dear Grand-daughter Margaret Pollington of London to perpetuate the remembrance of her Grandfather Charles Pollington. Boston. 1851." 185x112mm. Presentation inscription, frontispiece monochrome watercolour of Clare's Cottage, Helpstone, title page and 359pp. Pasted in on the presentation page are two news cuttings and loosely inserted at the back of the book are some newspaper and magazine cuttings relating to Clare.

London: The Studio. 1893.A set of The Studio from the Volume 1, Number 1 issued in April 1893 to Volume 100 (ending in December 1930). All 1st eds, all 4to. Almost all, including the first six issues making up Volume One, are in the rare original paper wrappers. Seventeen volumes are in the green cloth.

Number two of thirty copies, this is one of the twenty four uncoloured copies, printed on Hollingworth paper, the first page printed in red. 385x275mm. pp. [10], 16, [8]. Seven full-page lithographed plates and other illustrations in the text. Original tan half morocco, cloth covered boards. Upper cover stamped in gilt with a figure of nude boy and lettered in gilt. Spine lettered in gilt. Rubbing to head and foot of spine and to joints.

London: T.C.Newby. 1848.First edition. Three volumes. 12mo. 190x110mm. pp. [4], 358; [2], 366; [2], 342. Bound by Bayntun-Riviere (for Henry Sotheran) in modern green half morocco, boards covered in green linen. Spine lettered in gilt, five raised bands with gilt wavy line, compartments decorated with a single gilt border. Marbled endpapers. A neat, attractive binding in excellent condition. Internally very good with only slight foxing in places. Repair to half title in volume I.

London: Printed for John Morphew. 1713.First and only edition. 8vo in 4s. 180x115mm. pp. 23, [1]. In modern pink wrappers. Some slight foxing and staining to head of first gathering but overall a very good copy. Although published anonymously, this Tory response to Robert Hush's (i.e. Robert Walpole's) pamphlet The present state of fairy-land is recognised as the work of the doctor and satirist William Wagstaffe who moved in the same political and literary circles as Swift and John Arbuthnot.
