First edition. 190x125mm. pp. [18],354,[4]. Publisher's original green paper covered boards with green cloth spine. Lettered in black on front board and spine. Bumped and rubbed at corners with slight tearing to top corner of front board. One or two areas of staining towards the foot of front board. Spine is rubbed at head and foot and very slightly stained. Internally very good.

Written by master binder Douglas Cockerell and illustrated by Noel Rooke, this remains a foundational work for traditional bookbinders. A practical textbook that details the methods used to correctly bind books as well as advice for repairing damaged bindings. In keeping with his reputation as one of the leading bookbinders of his time, it is as authoritative as it is definitive.
