A nice set in excellent condition. The first volume has the ownership inscription of Mrs George Holgate Foster (repeated as Mrs G.H. Foster on the front pastedowns of the other two volumes).

Inside rear cover has the label "From The Library of John K. Martin". The four Lawrence poems are Aware, Thomas Earp, December Night and Quite Forsaken. Vittorio Rieti (1898-1994) began his studies in his native Italy. He had links with Berg and Schoenberg and his early work was influenced by their atonal experimentation.

A very good copy in the original wrappers, small chips to head and foot of spine, otherwise in excellent condition. Internally near fine, some unopened pages at the end of the book, two paragraphs (on pp37 and 67) have been marked in the margin with a red biro. Housed in a quarter morocco black solander box lettered in gilt. Loosely inserted is a slip signed by Karl Popper. This copy came from Popper's secretary.

Text from p.45-100 following twenty-one monotone Woodburytypes printed from Thomson's original glass plates. Each image is framed with a red line border and the title printed in red. The text (which follows the photographs) consists of a commentary and description of the images. Original green pictorial cloth with gilt title and decoration in blind with two figures in gilt. Floral endpapers (lacking front free endpaper). Hinges cracked but holding, corners a little worn, bumping and slight creasing to head and foot of spine.

With frontispiece engraved portrait of Butler and sixteen plates engraved by Mynde after William Hogarth. Contemporary quarter calf, marbled paper covered boards. Pages uncut. Rubbing and wear to boards and slight scuffing to spine. Internally very good. A very nice copy of the edition regarded as the best and the most scholarly.

London: Printed for T.Lowndes. 1775.First edition. 4to. 265x210mm. pp. iv, 764, [10, index]. Ten engraved plates (frontispiece portrait of the author and a further nine). The verso of the second leaf of preliminaries is numbered vi. Some foxing in places but otherwise, internally very good with the plates in excellent condition. Handsomely bound in slightly later red straight-grained morocco, upper and lower covers decorated with two double fillet borders in gilt enclosing a continuous "drawer-handle" design in blind and framing a continuous swag and drop border in blind.

London: Austin/Desmond Contemporary Books. October 1989.Printer's proof, limitation page marked "pp" and signed in pencil by Terry Frost. Eleven poems printed in Spanish and English on Velin Arches Blanc 270gsm paper folders (575x385mm). The title page is designed by Frost and printed by lithography. The colour etchings which are loosely inserted into the folders are printed on Somerset Satin 300gsm paper, some hand-coloured by Frost. All are signed in pencil by Frost and marked "pp". Housed in a black cloth covered Solander box designed by the artist. Issued in an edition of seventy-five.

n.p. n.d [mid-late 18th century].An album of hand-drawn maps with handwritten notes in an attractive italic. 230x180mm. Unpaginated, 137 pages of maps (84 maps) and text: pp. 89, 24bl, 48 (including 4 blank pages), 14bl. The maps are beautifully drawn in pen and ink with borders in coloured ink and watercolour. Tan half calf, rebacked and corners repaired, eighteenth-century marbled paper covered boards. Raised bands, burgundy morocco label lettered in gilt "Maps J:R". Some scuffing and staining to the boards. A repair tear to the first page of text but otherwise in very good condition throughout.

Modern speckled calf, borders to upper and lower covers decorated in blind, spine lettered in gilt. Some foxing and browning but overall a very good copy of a scarce and ground-breaking book on madness and mental health. William Battie (1703-76) was a Fellow of the Royal Society and President of the Royal College of Physicians. His principal medical interest was in what he called "the mad business".

Dust jacket is a photocopy as explained in the inscription by Ken Schles on the title page. The inscription reads: "For years I held this copy and showed it until the dust jacket disintegrated - I'm sorry - I had to put this xerox copy on the cover but it's a good book, no? This [the photograph on the title page] is in my apartment on Mott many years ago. LA 2009".

1971. Eight telegrams from Curt Claudio in America to John Lennon at Tittenhurst Park, Ascot. The telegrams are pasted as a group onto red card and framed. Most are in good condition although two are water stained and two others have some staining to the edges but all eight are clear and legible. They are part of a strange and fascinating story. In May 1971, a young man from California was found in the grounds of John Lennon’s house, Tittenhurst Park, Ascot. His name was Curt Claudio and he had been sleeping in the garden for a few days.

Illustrated throughout with 78 colour illustrations from various countries and war-zones where Page had worked. The text is a mixture of autobiographical essay and commentary on the images. Signed by Page, "Manchester, April '95".

London: Haskins Press. 1975.Limited edition. 350x270mm. Unpaginated [pp156]. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs. A seminal book in the history of photography, fashion, design, soft-focus erotica and social history.

Berlin: Oswald Arnold. 1941.A portfolio of photographs from the Atelier Manasse in Vienna run by Aderjan and Olga von Wlassics. They were the leading photographers of nude and mildly erotic studies in the 1920s and 1930s. Bound in a beige card cover with blue tasselled string. Some slight creasing and scuffing to the cover. The contents are a two page introduction on the beauty of the female body and its influence on artists. Loosely inserted is a facsimile handwritten letter from Aderjan Wlassics.

Leipzig: Ernst Oldenburg. 1931.Special issue 12 of Alfred Koch's leading naturist magazine Körperbildung-Nacktkultur. 221x142mm. pp. 54, [10]. 24pp with 43 black and white photographs. In original paper covers illustrated with a naked couple dancing on the beach. Scuffing to four of the images with a little loss but otherwise a nice copy of a rare volume. Adolf Koch was one of the leading proponents of the Freikörperkultur and developed his own method of nude gymnastics.

Leipzig: Parthenon-Verlag. 1927.First edition. 239x154mm. pp. 64. Original paper wrappers illustrated with a drawing of a Greek temple and a photograph of a naked woman. Slight creasing to the edges of the upper cover but otherwise in very good condition. Internally near fine with the photographs in superb condition. Ten pages of text (in German) and 48 black and white photographs by many of the leading photographers of the nude in 1920s German including Lotte and Rolf Herrlich and Dr Ernst Schertel.
