Original wrappers, some slight wear to extremities but otherwise in very good condition throughout and internally excellent. Protected by a transparent plastic cover. The first two editions of Flatland appeared in quick succession in 1884 but the book then fell out of print. Blackwell issued this third edition forty two years later. Textually it is has a few revisions from the second edition but its appearance is almost exactly the same as the earlier ones.

Beautifully gauffred edges, marbled endpapers, maroon silk ribbon. A blank preliminary leaf has the inscription "The joint gift of Mary Vickery and William J.E. Bennett to Elisa Vickery on her Birth Day 16th of June 1854. Pro salute anima preces sunt perpetua in Christo". In immaculate condition throughout and the binding is a splendid Victorian period piece.

The original manuscript of Homo Sapiens Correctus was written in Dutch in 1962. In 1964, a facsimile was issued in both Dutch and in an English translation.

Tipped in are two manuscript documents (seven pages in total) by Jones himself.

Pete Townshend's annotated rehearsal copy of the script for the stage production of his rock opera The Iron Man based on Ted Hughes's children's book of the same name. 48 A4 leaves printed on recto only. All but two are extensively annotated with directions ("PETE! ACTION"), observations ("Kids actually got bored in my best song!"), amendments, deletions and suggestions. Notes are in pencil, blue, black and purple ink and blue felt pen. More than one hand is at work in these notes but Townshend's is clearly evident.

In the centre is a picture (signed W. B [?] 84) of a poor mother with two young children. Above this is printed "Souvenir Programme of The Provincial Unemployed Demonstration" and either side of the picture are the texts "The profit of the earth is for all Eccles v.9" and "Labour is the source of all wealth". Below the picture are the details of the demonstration.

Beautifully bound in red full morocco with, on both covers, in gilt, the coat of arms of Francis I, King of the Two Sicilies. The arms are framed by a rococo gilt border. Spine decorated with an attractive rococo design and lettered in gilt. Some slight rubbing and a few marks to the spine but otherwise in very good condition. Internally excellent but with some foxing.

Overall a nice copy of a light and amusing collection of poetry and prose to keep while the hours spent travelling in a post chaise.

Uncut in the original blue wrappers, large section of the spine is missing but original label is present. Heavily foxed. Inscribed in black ink on the front wrapper: "The Honble. Rufus King with Mr Alexr Baring's Compliments". This work, in which Alexander Baring makes the case for a liberalising of British trade policy towards the United States, was popular and influential, running to three editions in 1808 alone.
